I am a commercial photographer. It's not only my passion, but it's my life. I love waking up knowing my job is to find beauty in the world, and the people who live in it.

Thank You NYC

Immerse yourself in the moment rather than in the future.

I traveled to New York to learn more about the history of what really has been happening within the last ten years. I quickly learned most refuse to talk about that day. There is pain, emotion, growth, but most importantly confusion. Some of these victims didn’t witness the attack first hand, but experienced an extreme loss.
I started out counting the people who were declining my project. The ratio seemed heavily weighted throughout the whole trip. Although, once I met one person it seemed that their acceptance towards what I was doing opened doors for me to meet others.
Seven individuals agreed for me to sit with them and hear their stories. I grew a relationship between each individual that is separate from one another, but I started to see little things that were similar in each. It was almost as if I was supposed to meet that individual for a specific reason.
I soon realized my journey was (sorry Brooks Institute) mainly out of my control.

Be aware that their survival through that horrific day is a blessing, but also be aware that everyone you meet in New York (tourist or not) have a story to tell and that story will change your life. I challenge any of you to stop taking pictures, checking your facebook, turn off your television and go “start making relationships.” Thank you for everyone who participated, and thank you for all who helped.

God Bless,
Jamille Photography
